The psychoacoustics laboratory provides an environment for presenting sound stimuli to a listener under acoustically controlled conditions. It consists of a double-walled sound-insulating booth, a computer equipped with an external multichannel sound card, and special hard- and software for sound generation and presentation.

In most listening experiments conducted at the psychoacoustics laboratory, sounds are delivered via headphones. In order to control the output of the headphones, they have to be calibrated before running an experiment.

For further details on hard- and software and on the calibration procedure, see the section Calibration of Headphones.

The psychoacoustics laboratory is run by the Research Methods and Mathematical Psychology group at the Department of Psychology.
